In 2009 I felt a calling to serve my country and enlisted in the US Navy with a contract to become a Aviation Rescue Swimmer. This is when I was first introduced to Crossfit and put on an 8 week program prior to boot camp. I remember my first workout was “Swimming with Murphy” which included ALOT of swimming, push-ups pull-ups and squats. I did the workout alongside other special operations candidates and we had to work as a team to push each other to finish the workout together. All of us were physically and mentally exhausted afterwards but we just couldn’t wait to go back and experience that sense of community and camaraderie again. Within the next few years I used this crossfit training to get through some of the most physically and mentally demanding schools in the Navy. After I got out of the Navy in 2015 I moved back to Redding, stepped into Northstate Crossfit and instantly felt like I was at home. I loved being surrounded by like minded people who wanted to be better versions of themselves and push each other to do the same. In August of 2018 I decided that I wanted to start giving back and teach others what I have learned over the years so I received my Crossfit Level 1 Certification and began coaching right away. Coaching has been an absolute blast so far and I love seeing people meet and exceed their goals!
